The Story of Death Unlimited
The history of Death Unlimited begins with a couple of metalheads, namely Luke Dalas Cambridge and Jessica Alwyn Mason. Along with their sidekick Kyle Strider McGraw (a real life friend, who met Dalas in 2003), they decided it was time to break away and make their own Society. The main thing they had in common was being fans of the band Children of Bodom, a Finnish Melodic Death Metal band who named themselves after a brutal murder at Lake Bodom, Finland, which to this day, has never been solved.

The story of the Children:

On the 4th of June, 1960, a group of four teenagers, consisting of two 15 year old girls and two 18 year old boys decided to go camping at Lake Bodom, a beautiful lake in the heart of Espoo. After swimming in the lake and going to a nearby kiosk to get some lemonade and chewing gum, the quartet trotted off to their campsite. That was the last time anyone saw them alive...
Between 03:00 and 06:00 the Children of Bodom took their last breaths. Someone or something brutally attacked their campsite, jumping on and stabbing through their tents, mainly hitting them in the head. One of the girl was hit 11 times in the neck...

There was one survivor that night, one of the boys named Nils Gustafsson managed to crawl out of the tent and was hit by a stone, making him appear dead. The killer escaped with some items from the campers' bags, but Nils escaped with his life. He was not in good shape though, he had 10 wounds and his upper and lower jaw were broken. He was still moving his arms when a man discovered the campsite the morning after, while swimming in the lake. Nils couldn't remember anything about the incident, but when hypnotised he could give some details of the killer. One of the main suspects was the kiosk keeper, who shouted the words "I DID IT!" in a bar while drunk. His friends didn't know what he was talking about, but the next day he drowned himself in the lake.

So the identity of the killer that night is a mystery even today. Nils could
not be charged with the murder as he had sustained too many wounds to be
inflicted on himself...

So this is where the name Children of Bodom came from. But where does Death Unlimited fit into all this? Well originally the name of the society was "Hate Crew", which is a kind of Alias the band Children of Bodom go by, to also include their fans, who are members of the Hate Crew. There was no intention of gathering ONLY Children of Bodom fans into the society, the name was just cool.

After some time though, the members that had been gathered, became inactive, leaving only two: Dalas and Alwyn. They decided to start recruiting new members into the Hate Crew, since they were feeling a bit lonely. There was no better place to start this process than in Camp Phoenix, where Dalas was already building a name for himself. They started advertising ingame and also in EntropiaForum. Their first recruits came fast, despite the "Hateful" name of the society. Included in the first wave of recruits (a wave of 4 people) was Wang Lemonhead Kobayashi, the Disciple of a Supremacy Reign member named Sweetthang. She had seen the advertisements and thought the Hate Crew might be able to help her Disciple. He joined and the rebuilding of the Hate Crew had begun.

Problems began to arise with the name of the society as it became more well known, especially in the Camp Phoenix area, and people started to get offended by the misleading name of Hate Crew. That's when it was time to change name, after threats of being reported for a hateful name, which was in direct violation of the EULA.

Before the name change, a founding member joined due to interest in the band Children of Bodom, one who is now a Leader Advisor: Morgoth Morgotti Morthond who, much later, invited a friend also now a Leader Advisor: Leona Domarn Sweden.

The name change was easy, Death Unlimited is the name of the best album from another Finnish Melodic Death Metal band named Norther. So under this name, the search for founding members, the core of the society, began.
Around the time of the name change, also at Camp Phoenix, an avatar had appeared regularly sweating, and Dalas just loved her name. That name was of course Nym Nymolos Olos, who, before Dalas could snap her up, was taken by Hells Henchmen (another society) where she remained with her husband Dolera Dolly TheStrider until some 4 months later, but eventually both joined Death Unlimited after some issues with Hells Henchmen.

Alwyn's Disciple was also recruited, a guy who took a huge break from EU due to work in real life, but to date, has never found his way back into actively playing. The guy is of course the still ungraduated Nicodemis Nico Asrai, who shortly after, invited his real life friend Greywulf Greywulf Nightrunner.

After the dramatic and terrible "Fall of Phoenix", sweaters were forced to migrate to sweatier regions of Calypso. Dalas' choice was Atlas Island North, which later became the home of Death Unlimited. Atlas Island North was a great place to chat, as the mobs there are small and sweating is laid back. There are a group of regulars who are always sweating in a group and chatting. One of these times, a new member arrived. Dalas didn't think anything of it the first or second times, but when he started showing up more and getting a bit more involved, Dalas decided to chat to this guy a bit more. Eventually leading to a society invite, the guy was of course our very own Spongee Sponge Dire. The same was also true of Revolver Wheel Wheelgun somewhere around the same time.

One guy who caused a little disruption in Death Unlimited was Black Warrior Ghost. Was he joining or was he not? He was certainly the right kind of person, but was he going to stay? Word had spread that he was a society hopper. Eventually his real life friend Twister joined Death Unlimited and Ghost followed shortly after. He hopped from Calypso Delight into Death Unlimited, and hasn't hopped out, so things look promising for him.
The last of the original core members was a friend of Sponge's from work. nosaj Slanty Iahsralm, father of David Davers Brown (who also joined later) was Sponge's Disciple and mainly joined because it was easier for them to chat than in a PM window, however Slanty became a well valued member of the DU family. Events in mid 2007 resulted in the departure of Davers and Slanty from EU. Davers' avatar was left by Slanty for Sponge (all money and items included), since Davers still hadn't graduated. Sponge swiftly got Davers to 100% and benefitted from the items he inherited. Dalas, on the hunt for an Orange Jumpsuit at this time, took advantage and to this day can be seen sweating at Atlas Island North in the Orange Jumpsuit previously worn by Davers.

After the original 10 members were settled in and got to know each other, it was time for Death Unlimited to grow a bit more. Another 10 members was decided, but that would have been all too easy, since the existing 10 members had already gained a little reputation for themselves. Interest was sparked in many new faces and new members including:
- Alexa Elaera Leon (Dalas' third and best disciple)
- Leinad Medokin Iksnolbaj and Pierre Blackmas Essen
(two random guys who turned up at AIN one day)
- Quatresse Ankan Pain (real life girlfriend of Leona)
Nikko Jinx Sweden (brother of Leona)
Carl Otaku Larsson (real friend of Leona)
and
Marques Fincalena Rios (ingame friend of Leona)
- Amberle Quickening Neverwraith and Simon Splitter Freezer
(old and not so old friends of Dalas)
- Michiel Twister Vandemalle and Bram ThYp Baetens
(real life friends of Ghost)
- Jaime Gato Gonzalez (Disciple of Dolly) and finally
- Pope Adam Lorenzo ("Disciple" of Sponge)

And the ones who didn't stay:

Leoniander King Zamburo - a story in himself.
virus death evel - who didn't like the promotion system in DU
Blood BL Lust - who was in a different time zone
ChattelVarech - see "The Real Story ("Tamara")" thread

Certain people will always have a place, for example society friends Anna-Natalie, Garian and Kresswell.
The name of Death Unlimited is growing and spreading across Calypso with the various activities they put together, for example treasure hunts, runs to new teleporters for new players and once, two members even got media coverage for their graffiti on one of the Twin Peaks, but that is a story for another time...

So the future of Death Unlimited looks to be big, bright, and sweaty!
See you at AIN, people ;)
